Fun to play a game this old without needing a console that's obsolete in a few years.

I tried the game dozens of times and it didn't work. All my other games work in this system so I am pretty sure it's not the console.

Generally Madden 2002 is not a bad game, it includes many of the game modes that one comes to expect. However, certain factors limit the game as a whole. For example, stock sounds and music detract from the game experience. Commentary has not changed from previous versions of the game. The limited capability of the n64 means that features found in other platforms such as historical situations, are not found here. Gameplay is arguably worse than prior versions of Madden such as Madden 99. The offense is easier to run, running plays are almost guaranteed to average at least 4 yards a carry. Receivers have magnet hands. Overall, the game is still fun, however a better buy might be Madden 99.
Now I'm a huge madden fan. Though in the year 2002 I really wasn't all that hooked up on Madden. I owned an N64 and didn't play it all that much. Well at least now as much as I play my other systems now. Though I do remember my Dad getting me this game either my Birthday or Christmas, I cant remember. Anyway when I first played this game I loved it. I had a great time playing this when it first came out. It was the newest and latest football game out, everyone loved it. Well now that it's five years later I decided to hook up my N64 and play it for old times sake. What a mistake! Let me tell you why this game is an embarrassment to EA Sports. BAD THINGS ABOUT THIS GAME...... Graphics- 2 The graphics stink. Pretty much just summed it up! They seem like 1997 graphics. I mean if you've played NFL Quarterback Club '98 for Nintendo 64 then let me tell you that, that game has better graphics then this game does. I mean I compared NFL Quarterback Club '98 to Madden 2002 in a review I wrote for NFL Quarterback Club '98. Well pretty much the only point I'm trying to make here is that come on people, Madden 2002 was made in the year 2001! NFL Quarterback Club '98 was made in 1997! Madden was made about 4-5 years after NFL Quarterback Club '98, and NFL Quarterback Club '98 has better graphics! That’s pathetic! EA Sports could of at least put effort into making the graphics for this game! It sure doesn’t look like it. Game play/ Controls- 2 I really don’t know how to play lol. I didn't take time to read the instruction manual and everything because, "Hey!" It's Madden! It shouldn't be the hardest thing to play in the world! Though I really didn’t take the time to figure out how to play. I played a game as the All Madden Team against the Houston Texans. Well I threw for a TD pretty easily. Though what I didn't like was that my next drive while I had possession I threw an interception and the computer was about 4 feet away from the ball, and the ball just floated into his hands. This has happened to me before on Madden 2006 for the playstation 2 for example. When you go up to make a catch it like glitches and the ball floats into his hands. That's something that EA really screwed up on especially in this game. It really made the game crappy. Sound- 2 You really don’t hear the announcers. I don’t even know if there are announcers! I really didn’t hear any at all. That’s pretty much all I have to say for the Sound. There's really nothing to say about it. The games sound is plain old crappy. THE ONLY GOOD THIS ABOUT THE GAME.... Is that on the main menu you can play Maddens from a while ago. You can play the Classic Maddens that for many of you Madden fans take you back in the day. They didn't have any PS2's or PS3's. They had Nintendo and Nintendo 64 Madden. So that's about the only this in this game that actually had me interested. Now folks I'm a big Madden fan. Though I really hope that if you want a football game for your Nintendo 64 then go out and get the game NFL Quarterback Club '98. The game is a bit older then Madden 2002 but it is A LOT better. The graphics are better not to mention the game play in my opinion. You can get the game for a few bucks, it wont cost you much. It's a much better game then Madden 2002 is and will keep you entertained longer. So if you don’t take in anything I said at all during this review just remember to please check out NFL Quarterback Club '98. You'll love it.Read full review
